Diving in Tenerife from Abades

Abades is one of the most popular shore dive sites on Tenerife due to its abundant marine life, sea turtles, stunning volcanic reefs and easy diving conditions. Abades dive site is ideal for first-time and beginner divers as well as more experienced scuba divers. In the bay we often encounter rays, angel sharks and sea turtles. We are ideally located at the beach front, you just walk into the water from the dive center - no choppy boat rides, no exhausting long trips in a van.

Marine Life in Tenerife

The waters around Tenerife are home to a wide variety of marine life thanks to volcanic reefs, sandy bottoms, and nutrient-rich Atlantic currents. Every dive offers something different, from small reef fish and octopus to other species moving through the area. One of the highlights of diving in Tenerife is the chance to see sea turtles, especially in calm bays and shallow coastal zones. Divers often encounter rays gliding over the sand and, during their mating season, angel sharks resting on the seabed. This mix of species and habitats makes each dive unpredictable and unique, with no two underwater experiences ever being the same.

Csaba guided them how to snorkel and relaxed them that by the end they had let go of the buoy and had the best experience. We saw loads of sealife including 3 turtles and a ray on the outer reef. Wir haben zu zweit den SSI Open Water Kurs mit Levi gemacht und können ihn und das Tenerife Diving Academy wirklich nur weiterempfehlen! Levi ist ein super Tauchlehrer – sehr engagiert, erfahren und gleichzeitig angenehm locker. Er hat eine richtig gute Balance zwischen Theorie, praktischen Übungen und vor allem Spaß beim Tauchen gefunden. Dadurch haben wir uns von Anfang an gut aufgehoben und sicher gefühlt. Was uns besonders gefallen hat: Man merkt, dass es Levi nicht darum geht, einem einfach das Zertifikat zu geben. Er will einem das Tauchen wirklich näherbringen und dafür sorgen, dass man die Grundlagen versteht, sicher anwenden kann und dabei Freude am Tauchen entwickelt. El equipo súper profesional, te explican todo con calma y te hacen sentir seguro desde el minuto 1. El fondo marino es una pasada: vi varios pulpos, 1 raya planeando y lo mejor de todo, una tortuga comiendo tranquilamente. We searched (AI, thanks Claude) for a less touristy, highly rated dive shop for our trip to the Canaries and Tenerife Diving Academy was the top of three. So, with no more connection than that off we went. In short, they are well run, seem organized and knowledgeable, and over two days introduced us to amazing shore dives. Day two was the better, felt like diving in an aquarium as we were surrounded by schools of fish. More incredibly, on day one we happened on an out of season but also very rare (so doubly rare) angle shark. 5mm suits were a must, and we brought all our own gear, but they had everything if we had needed anything. Also worthy of note was their attentiveness and easy, straight forward communication. No fluff, just get you in the water and start diving. Some currents, and it’s volcanic not reefs so expect to swim to where the sea life is. Highly recommend!
