While El Puertito was once famous for its resident turtle population, they are no longer spotted there. Increased human activity and boat traffic in the bay caused them to move on to quieter areas. We recommend focusing on other sites with sea grass areas—such as Abades—if you are hoping to spot turtles.
Angel Sharks are most commonly spotted during the winter months when the water temperature is cooler, making it the perfect time for divers who are interested in finding this unique, bottom-dwelling species.
Angel Sharks are seasonal visitors to the sandy bottoms around Tenerife. Diving at sites with extended sandy areas like Abades or Montaña Amarilla can increase your chances of spotting one.
