Terms and Conditions

Below we outline the terms and conditions that apply when booking your scuba diving experience (including try dives and guided dives), courses or Divemaster, Assistant Instructor and Instructor programmes/internships with Tenerife Diving Academy.

These provide you with information on the following:
· What you need to do to secure your booking.
· When full payment is required.
· What happens if you need to cancel your booking.
· What you need to know.

All experiences, courses and Divemaster,  Assistant Instructor and Instructor programmes/internships are sold according to the following conditions:

Making a booking

A booking is not confirmed until your payment is received in cleared funds.
We are not responsible for any additional costs due to you not providing information as required.
All of our prices are quoted and based in Euro.
These prices may be converted into British Pounds Sterling, US Dollars, Canadian Dollars and Australian Dollars for your convenience.
It is possible to pay in other currencies, with extra fees applying. You will be informed of the total price in the currency of your choice before booking.
All courses, experiences and programmes packages are inclusive of taxes.

Cancellation policy

For experiences and beginner and advanced courses (except for the Divemaster, Assistant Instructor and Instructor programmes), the following cancellation policy will apply:
Cancellation more than 48 hours before the scheduled start of the programme: full refund.
Cancellation less than 48 hours before the scheduled start of the programme: no refund.
Once the digital learning material kit (online theory) has been assigned to you, we cannot refund them. The cost varies per course, usually around 40 EUR per recreational courses. The course material stays valid and you can use it at a later date.

For the Divemaster, Assistant Instructor and Instructor programmes, the following cancellation policy will apply:

Cancellations 120+ days before arrival: refund of 90% of total payment received. Cancellations 60+ days before arrival: refund of 70% of total payment received.
Cancellations 45-60 days before arrival: refund of 40% of total payment received.
Cancellations 21-45 days before arrival: refund 20% of total payment received.
Cancellations within 14 – 21 days before arrival: 10% of total payment received. Cancellations after 14 days before arrival: no refund.
Reservation deposit is deemed non-refundable in all cases.
Once the digital learning material kit (online theory) has been assigned to you, we cannot refund them. The course material stays valid and you can use it at a later date.
All refunds will be made to the account from where the payments were received. All refunds will be made within 45 days of the notice from you to cancel.

Refund of Digital Learning Material Kits

Once the digital learning material kit (online theory) has been assigned to you, we cannot refund them. The cost is as follows: 50 EUR for recreational courses, 90 EUR for the Dive Guide | Divemaster Course and 480 EUR for the Instructor Course. PADI eLearning fee is 140 EUR.

What happens if we need to change your booking

If we need to cancel any course, experience or programme prior to the commencement date, we will issue a full refund. We will not indemnify our clients for fees incurred with other service providers as a result of our cancellation of the booking.
What happens if you need to change your booking
You can change the dates of your booking up to 8 weeks before your original arrival date, subject to availability.

Paying for your courses, experiences and Divemaster,  Assistant Instructor and Instructor programmes

A reservation deposit indicated on the website is required on booking.
For experiences and beginner courses, the rest of the fee is due on the day of the experience or course.
For the Divemaster, Assistant Instructor and Instructor programmes 50% of the remaining total is due 12 weeks before arrival and the remainder 6 weeks before arrival.
There are three ways to make a payment: by electronic bank transfer, by credit/debit card or in cash.
Once the amounts and dates are established, there is a €25 fee for any late payment.

Exchange rate & service fees

You will be liable to pay all service & exchange rate fees applied by the banks where appropriate. Bank transfers received in Euros do not incur any fees where we receive the designated amount without penalty.

Our liability

We act as an agent for apartments, hotels and in some cases transport companies and assume no liability in connection with their services.
We will not be responsible for any act, omission, error or any injury, delay, irregularity, government regulations, theft or strikes over which we have no control.

Obligations of Divemaster, Assistant Instructor and Instructor candidates

We expect that candidates put in the required effort and have full attendance to complete the course requirements. We will not refund any fees for non-completion of the course for reasons attributable to the candidates.

If candidates need to extend their stay to complete the course due for reasons attributable to the candidate, a charge will be made for extra weeks’ accommodation & tuition.
If the candidates, due to illness or injury fail to complete the internship, we will not refund any money for non-completion.
If the candidates need to stay longer to complete the course, due to illness or injury, a charge will be made for extra weeks’ accommodation & tuition.
Additional accommodation and tuition can only be offered when available.

Costs and quotations Divemaster, Assistant Instructor and Instructor Programmes

The cost quoted is based on the information given by the candidates.
If this information is later found to be incorrect then additional costs may be incurred by the candidates.

If the candidates have chosen to stay in accommodation supplied by one of our agents then they agree to pay for all damages and cleaning charges if it is applicable.

The candidates can be removed from the accommodation with no refund in case of non-compliance with the house rules and policy of the accommodation.

Additional costs

Costs that are not included in the quotation are as follows:
Dive insurance
Compulsory medical examination by a qualified physician
SSI Professional Membership fees.

Late payment fee. If you make a late payment there is an additional fee of €25.00.

Diving

By applying for, and making a reservation deposit, it is deemed that you are fit to dive.
If you have any doubts about your ability to participate or complete the course, due to health or fitness, check with your own doctor and communicate this concern to us before making a booking.

All divers are required to be fit to dive, for their own safety, for the safety of our staff and other customers.

We reserve the right to refuse individuals to dive if they are not considered fit to dive. This includes being hungover, under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

In such circumstances, if re-scheduling of training is required to enable you to complete performance requirements when fit to do so, an additional fee may be charged.

If the candidates do not complete their training within the scheduled timescale and need to extend their stay to complete their training, an additional fee will be charged. If the candidates do not complete their training because of being unfit to dive, unprofessional behaviour or lack of commitment to completing performance requirements, no refund will be given.

If  the candidates do not start or complete the course, we will refund fees as per the cancellation policy.

We reserve the right to ask an individual to leave if they are breaking national laws, causing serious offence or are exhibiting inappropriate behaviour during the programme. In such circumstances, no refund will be given.

During your programme, images will be taken of you and by joining the program you agree to them being used on social media platforms and other similar promotional materials produced by the dive centre.

Equipment

If you rent scuba, snorkel or any other kind of equipment from the dive centre or if you enrol in a course where we borrow you said material, you are fully responsible for the material while you are using it. Broken or lost equipment has to be replaced or paid for. The dive centre reserves the right to analyse the damage and determine the amount you need to pay for the repair or replacement.

Materials and certification fees

Digital learning materials are included in the cost of each course.
All your recreational certification costs are covered by us. The exceptions to this are First Aid, CPR and Oxygen Provider certification renewals. If you are joining us as a Rescue Diver, you must have a current first aid, CPR and O2 certification. If this requires renewal, you pay the reduced fee of €99.
Your professional certification fee is paid direct to SSI by you.

Diving Insurance

It is mandatory for all certified divers to posses their own personal dive insurance. If you do not currently hold an insurance policy, we can arrange the insurance, or you can arrange it before your arrival.

Travel Insurance

We strongly recommend you have travel insurance in place before leaving home.

Illness and Injury

We take your health and wellbeing very seriously, as well as that of our Staff, and Team Members.
If you suffer an illness or injury during your time with us that requires either medical attention or alters your fitness to dive, you will be required to have your medical approval renewed and signed by a qualified physician.

Accommodation

When accommodation is included in the programme, the accommodation is provided by an Agent and described as basic and functional. There are no cleaning fees included in the cost, so you will be responsible for keeping your room and communal areas clean and tidy at all times.
If the cleanliness falls below an acceptable standard and the candidate is unwilling / unable to bring it up to an acceptable condition, cleaners will be brought it and a charge made to those responsible.
In extreme circumstances, you may be asked to leave if you are unable to respect people’s property without alternative accommodation being sought or refund being made.

The arrival day is Monday, departure day is the last Friday of your programme. Bookings are from Monday 15:00 until Friday until 09:00. If you wish to stay after this time it is charged an additional fee.

Please note no refunds are due on accommodation costs if you choose to leave early or if you are required to leave due to failure to meet your obligations.

Deposits are refunded once you leave your accommodation and the staff has inspected it.

Please note that there are two dogs and some cats living in the accomodation.
